President Donald Trump has cast his ballot by mail in the Republican primaries in Florida, according to reports from Politico and The New York Times. This action is confirmed through Palm Beach County election records, where the president has been registered since 2019. The White House confirmed this detail to the newspaper, clarifying that although Trump primarily resides at the Oval Office in Washington D.C., he maintains his voter registration in Florida.

Contradiction with Recent Policies

This act of mail-in voting occurs within a complex political context. In March, the president signed an executive order aimed at restricting the use of mail-in ballots before the November midterm elections that will decide control of the U.S. Congress. Trump has repeatedly criticized this electoral method over the years, falsely alleging that his defeat in 2020 was the result of widespread fraud.

In a recent post on Truth Social, he continued his claims regarding the insecurity of mail-in voting. He cited India's Chief Electoral Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to argue for the need for valid identification and criticize the U.S. system. Trump urged approval of "THE SAVE AMERICA ACT" as an immediate solution.

Legal and Administrative Reactions

In the meantime, a federal judge has blocked the United States Postal Service from implementing part of the restrictive executive order. The Trump administration has requested that the Supreme Court intervene in this pending legal case.

Although Politico initially reported on the vote based on local records, The New York Times indicated difficulties accessing these data directly from Palm Beach County Supervisor's website, citing privacy protection. Nevertheless, a White House spokesperson confirmed that Trump voted by mail this Monday.

This is not the first time the president has used this method. He sent his ballot by mail in 2020, during a recent special state election and last week when he cast his vote on August 13. The official confirmation closes an informational cycle regarding how voting rights are exercised amidst policies seeking to limit them.
