Authorities in Walton County, Florida, have intensified their search for Isabelle Rose Johnson, a 38-year-old woman wanted on an open count of murder. The Walton County Sheriff’s Office has announced a reward of at least $16,000 for information that leads to her arrest and conviction. Officials warn the public that Johnson is actively evading capture by using fake identities and frequently changing her physical appearance.
Discovery of Remains in Freeport
The investigation began after deputies discovered the remains of Jason Christopher Coulthart, 43, buried at a property in Freeport on June 25. According to officials, Coulthart had been missing since May 24, when he was last seen leaving the College Condominiums. Investigators state that tips gathered during an initial missing person inquiry directly led law enforcement to the site where his remains were found.
Officials have not released a potential motive for the killing or specific details regarding how Coulthart died. Additionally, police have not disclosed the exact relationship between Johnson and Coulthart. The Niceville Chief of Police, Mark Hayse, addressed the community in a statement, noting that this is "not the news we hoped to deliver" but affirming support for Coulthart’s family.
Suspect on the Run with Multiple Aliases
Isabelle Johnson is described as 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighing approximately 120 pounds. She has brown hair, hazel eyes, and distinct tattoos, including a scorpion on her left thigh. Police note that she has known ties to both Georgia and Alabama.
A significant challenge in the investigation is Johnson’s ability to alter her look and use various aliases. Security footage captured her inside a local business days after the body was unearthed. Law enforcement warns that she may be using names such as "Harley," "Jessica Elaine Bowman," "Jessica Elaine Thrush," "Jessica Elaine Thrash," "Jessica Dowdy," or "Denise." Investigators believe Johnson has persuaded multiple individuals to help her dodge law enforcement.
Charges Against Accomplices
Five individuals have already been charged with harboring or aiding the suspect. Among those named are Michael Ray White, 74, and Kathleen Morris, 95 of Santa Rosa Beach. They were charged as accessories to a capital felony after the fact and for obstruction.
Authorities allege that White assisted Johnson between June 25 and June 30. Meanwhile, Morris admitted to providing transportation and supplies while lying to deputies about Johnson’s whereabouts at her home. Walton County Sheriff Michael Adkinson emphasized that anyone found helping or still assisting Johnson will face severe criminal charges.
"We’re doing some targeted enforcement because we know that somebody knows," said Chief Deputy Dustin Cosson of the Walton County Sheriff’s Office. The focus remains on identifying exactly where she is and holding accountable those who have helped her evade justice.
