President Donald Trump has officially endorsed Republican candidate Saritha Komatireddy in her bid to unseat New York Attorney General Letitia James. The announcement, made via a Truth Social post on Friday, marks the latest escalation in a yearslong political and legal rivalry between the two figures. President Trump described his support as "complete and total," positioning Komatireddy as an alternative to what he termed a corrupt administration under James.

Escalating Feud Over Mortgage Fraud

The endorsement comes against the backdrop of ongoing legal tensions, specifically regarding mortgage fraud allegations. Trump has been pressing for James to face prosecution related to these claims. The conflict stems from a 2022 lawsuit where James successfully sued Trump and The Trump Organization, accusing them of inflating asset values on financial statements to secure favorable loans. Although an appeals court later voided the nearly $465 million penalty, ruling it violated constitutional prohibitions against excessive fines, the political fallout remains significant.

In his statement, Trump did not mince words regarding James' tenure. He labeled her as "the WORST Attorney General in our Country" and a "Complete and Total Disaster." The President criticized her previous run for Governor of New York against Kathy Hochul, noting she received less than 1% of the vote before withdrawing from that race.

Komatireddy’s Qualifications and Campaign Goals

Saritha Komatireddy, who was nominated by Trump to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York in 2020, brings a background as a former federal prosecutor and chief of staff at the Drug Enforcement Administration. She also clerked for Supreme Justice Brett Kavanaugh. In her response on X, Komatireddy expressed honor at being nominated by Trump previously and receiving his current endorsement, as we reported in Cory Mills Leans on Trump Endorsement Amid Ethics Scrutiny in Florida Primary.

"I’m working hard to win the support of all New Yorkers and defeat Letitia James this November," Komatireddy wrote. She highlighted her platform as focusing on law enforcement, economic growth, election integrity, border security, and supporting veterans. This contrasts sharply with Trump's characterization of the current state under James, where he claimed murder and violent crime are "raging out of control" while businesses flee to other states.

Political Implications in New York

This development adds another front to Trump’s long-standing feud with the Democratic attorney general. While Fox News Digital reached out to James' campaign for comment, the President's public attacks continue to frame the narrative around his judicial and political opponents. The endorsement solidifies Komatireddy as a primary vehicle for Republican efforts to challenge James’ hold on the Attorney General office in the upcoming November election.
