GAINESVILLE — Former University of Florida football star Tim Tebow announced on Friday that he is pausing his relationship with the Christian organization Life Surge. Investigation Into Business Practices
Tebow, who starred at UF from 2006 to 2009 and won two national titles, stated that his team is taking the allegations "extremely seriously." According to Torre’s report on the podcast "Pablo Torre Finds Out," Life Surge initially charges attendees around $30 for events featuring Tebow. The organization then encourages participants to sign up for three-day classes costing $97 to learn strategies in stock market and real estate investments.
The report further details that these classes offer additional courses ranging from $10,000 to $50,000. Torre’s investigation claims Life Surge suggests attendees apply for credit cards with temporary 0% interest rates offered by third-party brokers on-site. The company allegedly encourages people to take out lines of credit on their homes and use retirement accounts to cover these costs, leaving some individuals in financial ruin.
Tebow’s Response and Context
"My heart in getting to share there was to be able to share something that I love to share, which is the love of Christ and the good news of the gospel," Tebow said. He emphasized the importance of understanding all facts before proceeding. Tebow stated he was unaware of the company's alleged misdeeds when the report surfaced. He mentioned being at an anti-human trafficking conference on Thursday, where his team informed him of the allegations as they were flying to Alabama for another event. "Kind of caught off guard with some of it," Tebow said, explaining that this is why he is trying to learn more about the facts.
Upcoming Game Against Ole Miss
The pause in his relationship with Life Surge comes just before a significant matchup for the Gators. The No. 4 Rebels visit Gainesville on Saturday, marking a meaningful game for Tebow and first-year coach Jon Sumrall’s squad (3-0).
