U.S. President Donald Trump has allowed a Russian-flagged oil tanker to reach Cuba, effectively ending his administration’s fuel blockade of the island nation. The move comes as Cuba faces an increasingly severe energy crisis.

### Background on the Fuel Blockade

The U.S. had previously imposed strict restrictions on the shipment of fuel to Cuba in a bid to exert pressure on the communist regime. However, the decision by Trump to permit this Russian tanker underscores the complexity and evolving dynamics of the ongoing crisis.

### Impact on Cuban Energy Sector

Cuba’s energy sector has been under significant strain due to various factors, including economic sanctions from the United States and a reliance on Venezuela for much-needed fuel supplies.
