> Orlando Rep. Cory Mills denounces the FBI investigation as a political attack by opponents weeks before the August Republican primary, fueling debates on Central Florida politics.

## Las claves

- Orlando Congressman Cory Mills labeled a Department of Justice probe as a "political op" orchestrated by his rivals.
- The allegations emerged weeks before the Florida Republican primary scheduled for August 18 in Orange County and Central Florida.
- This narrative shift may influence voter turnout and sentiment within the Republican base ahead of the upcoming election.

Orlando Congressman Cory Mills has publicly condemned a reported Department of Justice (DOJ) probe as a "political op" orchestrated by his political opponents. This declaration comes just weeks before the crucial Florida Republican primary scheduled for August 18, intensifying local scrutiny in Orange County and across Central Florida regarding election integrity and federal oversight.

### Accusations of Political Retaliation

Mills stated that the investigation is not a genuine law enforcement effort but rather a strategic move by rivals to undermine his campaign. The congressman argues that these tactics are designed to distract voters and damage his reputation ahead of the primary vote. By labeling the probe as politically motivated, Mills aims to rally support among local Republicans who view such federal actions with skepticism when they occur during election cycles.

### Implications for Central Florida Voters

The timing of these allegations is significant for Orlando and the broader I-4 corridor community. As voters prepare for the August 18 primary, the narrative surrounding Mills' candidacy has shifted from policy discussions to legal controversies. Local political observers in Winter Park and Kissimmee are closely watching how this story unfolds, as it may influence voter turnout and sentiment within the Republican base, a story we covered in [Cory Mills Leans on Trump Endorsement Amid Ethics Scrutiny in Florida Primary](/noticia/cory-mills-leans-on-trump-endorsement-amid-ethics-scrutiny-in-florida-primary).

### Focus on Election Integrity

Mills’ defense centers on the theme of election integrity, a major talking point for many Florida Republicans. He suggests that his opponents are using federal resources to target him personally rather than addressing substantive policy differences. This perspective resonates with constituents who have expressed concerns about political bias in government institutions.
